new york sights

October 31, 2008

I better take off my mind first about my longed-for trip back home, and dream of another far-away dream destination. Could you guess? Not here in Europe but on the other side of the globe, particularly the City of New York, dubbed as The Big Apple.

I would like to land on one of the three major airports servicing metropolitan New York, the John F. Kennedy International Airport, and take a JFK Airport Shuttle to our hotel. Of course, I’ll not be alone in my travel, but with my dear hubby. In fact I wish to be with more of the family, the more the merrier. We could tour around in a city sightseeing package, on a hop-on Hop-off Double Decker bus, to famous sites such as the Statue of Liberty; the site of the World Trade Center of that infamous 9-11 event; the United Nations Headquarters; the Wall Street, a famous global financial center where the New York Stock Exchange is; the Brooklyn Bridge, to mention some. december trip

October 30, 2008

I’m still keeping my fingers crossed and praying so hard that our planned trip back to Philippines will come true.  We have few glitches though that needs to be tackled like the passport of baby C which will expire this coming December and my permanent residence which has still my old passport number.  All these important documents have to be renewed before we can finally settle on the exact date of departure.  Huhuhu!

My sister and her family is planning a 3 day stay in Boracay beach.  I don’t know if we’ll go with them. I don’t want to make any plans yet about our stay there until I can finally step on the Philippine soil.   But since my sis and company are already set on their vacation, she’s already exercising a lot so she’ll look good in swimsuit!  Hehehe.  We’ll see if she’s successful with her weight loss experiment or she might want to look for the best diet pills to make her weight loss dream an instant reality.

I’ve been seeing lots of diet pills reviews in the internet lately and one of which is from the Weight Loss Guide. They also have some appetite suppressants, cellulite reduction and anti depressants.  So I bet it’s not really hard to lose weight these days.

our technology-driven lives

Are you a slave or a master to technology?  It can’t be denied that our lives have been greatly affected with the increasing development of technology.  Every where you look, you can see people carrying or using products of technology.  Some can’t even live without it; it’s already ingrained in their lifestyle.  Many businesses also run with the help of technology.  In fact many have become rich the past decades because of the technology. Communications, constructions, productions are some of the industries that have gained lots of benefits with technology. As for myself, I admit I find it hard not to have internet access anymore coz my work is online. Even my husband’s work is IT related. Geeezzz!  So what does that make me? (more…)

land trips

October 29, 2008

Long road trips are time-consuming and often very inconvenient. When we travelled to Finland, I was a bit disappointed that we have to take a long four hour ride from the capital city Helsinki to my sister’s place in Pori.  It was already past 7 in the evening when we arrived in the airport and the thought of travelling on the road for another four hours was really draining to think of.  But as soon as we were inside the bus, all those negative impressions disappeared.  The bus was very comfortable, the seats were soft and spacious, the aisle was roomy and the ride was smooth.  There was also a toilet at the back end if you need to pee. We were also entertained by the very scenic views we passed by.  The four hours flew quickly, and oftentimes I found myself dozing off.

So my tip to travelers taking buses or road trips, choose a comfortable transportation like what the charter bus nyc has.  Whether you’re going to amusement parks, trade shows, day trips, etc.  you can get a tailored custom tour with their bus charter.   Their deluxe motor coaches have essential amenities such as lavatory, video and audio capabilities, PA system and reclining seats which allow you to rest comfortably during the trip.

You can get free and quick quote from them and you can also get a special rate if you’re travelling with a group. Not bad at all!

shopping for baby C

October 28, 2008

One of our current spare time activities is taking baby C out for walks and shopping.  Since the temperature has been getting colder, we’ve been shopping for her fall/winter gear.

We were at C&A last Saturday and I was dismayed to see that their baby tights are over 100 czk less than those we bought at H&M.  With the discovery that C&A baby clothes cost cheaper compared to H&M, I leafed through their clothes to see if there’s anything I’d fancy buying for baby C.   Nothing!  We came out empty handed.  It seems I am still loyal to H&M coz we ended up buying a sweater for the kiddo there.

sniff, sniff

Having a sick child is what parents dread the most.

Today, my girl woke up with runny nose.  Like me, she usually has it for a short period of time, like an hour or two and then it disappears.  It isn’t much to be worried about, but a little later, I noticed that she’s slightly hot in temperature.

I think she caught colds the other night when she went out with her dad to meet with his colleagues.  Public places are usual sources of these types of sickness.

Though the kid is acting normal; she’s still bubbly and playful, my problem is that she can’t sleep well.  She usually naps in the morning and afternoon but she had a tough time sleeping this morning coz of her clogged nose.  Sigh… I hope it gets better soon so she can sleep well or else she’ll be a cranky baby!

the gift of time

October 23, 2008

Timepieces are probably one of the most picked gift we women give to the men of our lives.  One can’t go wrong in giving watches as gifts, whatever the occasion is.

Since Christmas is just around the corner, it is good to start shopping for our loved ones now.  Aside from preparing early which is a good practice, there are also many stores that are having clearance sale which gives buyers more savings on their purchases.

If you’re planning to give your dad, brother or husband a watch, take advantage of the huge sale happening at Perpetual Diamonds on their beautiful autumn Rolex timepieces.  This is for a limited time only, so while you still can, better grab the chance ASAP! A Rolex watch will definitely bring a smile on the recipient come Christmas time.

meeting new friends

Earlier this evening, hubby and a friend were chatting in the internet.  They used to be classmates in elementary and this friend is now running a hosting company.  In fact, he’s hosting some of our websites.

Anyway, his GF has given birth few months ago and was complaining that there aren’t women with kids in their neighborhood whom she can talk to, or have her baby play with. Since we live nearby, this friend asked if I could drop by their place when I take baby C for a walk.  I told hubby it’s awkward to just go there by myself coz we haven’t met before.  So tomorrow, we’ve set up a time for the four of us (with our daughters) to meet. I’m sure baby C will be delighted to meet a new playmate.

on choosing strollers

One of the first few things we bought for baby C was her stroller.  With the winter season approaching then, my mother-in-law suggested that we buy a stroller with basket that’s deep so the baby will be warm inside.  We also read on some stroller buying guide to give us tips on what features to look for in a stroller.  With the number of strollers in the market, one can be easily confused.  As soon as we’ve identified the features we wanted, we were ready to shop for baby C’s stroller. It wasn’t that difficult to find.  Our advice for new parents, choose a stroller that has adjustable functions like what we bought.  It’s a 3-in-one stroller which can be used from infancy to toddler years.  It was a bit pricey but worth the money we paid for.

Here’s the little girl in her stroller taken on her first spring:

toy hunt - toy with music

October 22, 2008

Toy Hunt is hosted by Joy.  This week’s theme is Toy/s that sing/s or Toy/s with music.

I know I’m a day late but better late than never! hahaha  Anyway, I think this is the first of all toys that our kids have - it’s the music mobile!  You can barely see it in the picture below.  My girl’s music mobile have tiny cute bears rotating as the music plays.  It kept her entertained when she was still a helpless little thing who can only lay on her crib. We’ve kept that toy a long time ago when she can already stand on her crib and grab the teddies, so no photos of the toy.

christmas plans

October 20, 2008

Christmas shopping list.  That’s something that’s yet to be tackled. If we’re going to spend Christmas here in Europe then the list would be short but if we can go to PH, it surely would be a long list!  Whew!

And as always, it’s always the guys who are hard to give presents to. Their gifts would range from sporty to techie.  And choosing those stuff isn’t easy at all (and expensive too!).  I don’t know what hubby would have to say about a pair of Dansko clogs.  They really look good and neat for casual wear which he can use for work. Ummm well…

Anyway, I hope our plans will be confirmed soon so I’d know what to do.  It’s already October 20!  A month and a few weeks more till Christmas! Uhuhuh!

problems with posting in i.ph

I’ve recently been encountering problems with i.ph. I think it was two weeks ago when I can’t publish my post.  It took a long while so I did it over and over.  After some time, I already saw the article posted four times!  So it means there was a delay in posting but well, it shows RTE error so who would’ve thought that my article was already published.

Then last night, I couldn’t post again.  No matter how I click on the publish button, it won’t work.  But when I tried it using FireFox, it published without any problems. Really weird. Hmmmm… I wonder if other i.ph users are having the same problems as me.

airfare woes

Oh no! I tried searching for fares for our planned trip to the Philippines this December and I was taken aback with the prices! The lowest airfare started from $2900 and you can imagine how horribly high it went up from there.  Geeez!  $2900 is already even too much for me. And that’s just the airfare, we still have to spend for other expenses travel insurance, visa fees plus its Christmas so we’ll have to spend for gifts too. Hala!  Aside from that, hubby has yet to ask his office if he can take a month leave during that time.  So everything is still a plan which hopefully will come true.

Anyway, for your insurance needs such as group health insurance, medical health insurance and family health insurance, visit anthem.com.

he’s back!

October 19, 2008

Oh yes! Hubby’s back after more than two weeks of being away on a business trip. My little girl couldn’t hide her excitement when she saw her dad.  She ran and hugged him.  Awww! That was really cute.  She really missed her dad.

So everyone’s happy again, the little girl, me and hubby too.  He said it feels good to be home and I replied, it’s good to have you back home too!  I hope he won’t be sent away again in the future. Hmmm.. if ever he will be, I hope we will come along. I wish!  But for now, what matters is that we’re together again!

could have been

October 15, 2008

Today I could have been shouting “Hurray!  I made it!  I survived two weeks without my hubby around!”.  We could have been celebrating with a lunch out.  But that’s not the case yet.  Duh!  Hubby’s business trip is extended to three more days. Huhuhuhu, so all the plans brewing in my head are all gone.  Well, we’re still okay except that the weather hasn’t helped much in lifting my mood.  Add to that, I have my girl thing! Achhh!

on kitchens and kitchen sinks

October 7, 2008

We full-time housewives and moms sure spend a lot of time in the kitchen.  Morning, noon and night, we’re there, preparing and cooking food, washing the dishes, etc.   To make work easier for us, a good and organized kitchen helps a lot.  Do I hear a unanimous YES?

Few years ago, we transferred our kitchen to a new part of the house. Everything had to be constructed, from foundation to roofing; of course that includes the floors, counter tops, kitchen sink, and cooking area.  We spent a great deal looking for granite for the counter tops and also scouring home depots for kitchen sinks. We were looking for a small but with double sinks coz it’s convenient to wash dishes when you have two separate sinks for the dirty dishes and the rinsed ones.  After hopping from one store to another, we finally found one which fits the right size we’re looking. Whew!

Want to see how double kitchen sinks look like?  Head on to sinksusa.com!  They have plenty of choices for stainless kitchen sinks and what’s more, they’re having a big sale! You can choose from undermount sinks, single bowl sinks, bar sinks, round sinks, large sinks and they also have a variety of sink accessories.  It’s a great store to shop when you’re building a kitchen or remodeling one.

thank God for my in-laws

Almost every night, Dad takes baby C for an hour or more to give me time to rest or do whatever I like to do.  =) Also Mom took care of the little girl during the weekends and even cooked for us a special lunch on Sunday.  Aren’t they great?  Being alone with my girl isn’t that difficult at all with their help, but I sure am missing hubby a lot too. Anyway, thank God my in-laws are there.  They told me to call them anytime I need help.

ach-ne!

October 4, 2008

So I was just mentioning about acne treatment in my one of my posts, and coincidentally a friend of mine has been worrying about her acne! Luckily for her, there are many tips and even treatments that she can try for herself.  It’s all available in the internet! Some of those are really effective (at least for others).  Who knows it might just work for her too.

do i really want a life insurance?

Would you believe that I don’t have a life insurance? Oh okay maybe I made a mistake by declaring that in my blog.  I hope insurance agents won’t be harassing me and luring me to sign up with them, etc.  It can be annoying.  life insurance rates and quotes can actually be done through online thus I don’t have to deal with agents. If its affordable term life insurance I want (do I?) then finding it won’t be difficult coz there’s a website that searches online for the best rates and quotes.  Isn’t that neat?
