a parent's journey...

stay away from asbestos!

June 3, 2009

I just finished reading an article about a girl in UK who died of mesothelioma at the age of 28 years old, making her one of the youngest victims of this asbestos related cancer.  Before her death she divulge this information which might be the cause of her getting the cancer:

I used to take a short cut across a yard in Failsworth on my way to primary school. I know that men working there cut asbestos sheets and handled asbestos materials in the yard, but I had no idea that by walking through the yard I could have inadvertently got cancer.

From this story we can learn a valuable lesson.  Stay away from asbestos!  This disease takes time to develop from the time of exposure; usually twenty to forty years.  It’s a good thing that lately there are Mesothelioma treatments, that can help victims of this type of cancer.  You can browse over at www.mesotheliomahelp.net/ for more information on mesothelioma.
