use sugar as facial scrubs

November 28, 2010

I am fond of using facial wash with scrubs before but ever since I ran out, I wasn’t able to buy a new facial wash.  Soap isn’t enough to clear away the dead skin on my face.  Those dead skin and dirt might end up clogging my pores and turn into blackheads, whiteheads or face acne! yay!  I don’t like that at all!

Thank God I got to learn a simple trick from my fave show’s What Not To Wear on how to clear away dead skin from the face.  By simply using sugar when washing the face with soap or facial wash, you can have an instant homemade scrubs that doesn’t cost much!  Try it and you’ll love it, coz I do!

boots for snow

November 25, 2010

They say it’s gonna be one of the coldest winter this year.  Expect lots of snow too! Winter isn’t my favorite season of all.  Sure it’s nice to see snow, and play with it, but the thought that it will be months, just makes me want to cry. hehehe

But instead of crying, it’s better to be prepared!  I’ve been browsing on womens boots, the kind that I can use on the snow. I found the one I like but I am not decided yet if I should buy it, coz its online!  Maybe I should look in the malls first before ordering online to save on shipping fee.

I like this one:

I wonder though if it’s good for walking in the snow. hehe

handling criticisms

November 20, 2010

If you’re fat and you receive hoodia diet pills for Christmas, how would you feel?  Would you feel insulted? Or would you feel grateful to the giver for thinking about your own good?  If a close friend criticizes the way you dress, how would you take it?

When watching What Not To Wear, its interesting to see the different reactions of the nominees.  Some feel bad or embarrased about being chosen by their friends, they find it hard to accept that others think they dress badly. But there are others who accept it with enthusiasm, admitting that they don’t know how to choose clothes for themselves and that they are willing to learn from the experts.  Those who felt bad in the first place though, in the end, realized that their friends meant well and they’re thankful for the new change.

We might get hurt with criticisms initially but taking time to ponder about it might do us good.  The next time you get criticize, think about it.  It will help you improve yourself.

non-stop work

I am working late tonight, while hubby put the kids to sleep.   I know he still wants to read news, search for Ferrari parts or place with his online game, but I have a deadline to catch.

I wasn’t able to work online during the day coz the kids kept me busy.  And when they sleep, I use the time to clean the mess, wash dishes, cook, wash their milk bottles, etc.  The house chores don’t end!  I finish one, and then there’s another thing to do, and more and more! Whew!

I am glad that I have a supportive husband who helps me with house chores and kids even after a long day of office work.  It gives me time to do a little of what I want to do.  Yeah, just a little coz it’s getting late and I have to sleep.  There’s a little baby that still needs feeding through the night, on an average of 3 hours interval. Huhuhu…

wanted: handy man

It’s annoying when something isn’t working at home.  The other week, our washing machine broke down.  One time it was the handle of our toilet door, and until now, the pump in our water closet hasn’t been replaced.  Today though, it was the internet that was giving me a problem!  Whew!  My husband isn’t much of a handy man like my dad, but he can fix basic problems at home.  He knows what to do when the bathroom faucet is leaking, or when the bathroom tiles come off.

When it comes to computers though, he is a pro.  It is his forte, so much so that even at work, he is one of the most trusted and indispensable guy.  And the internet problem we had earlier was beyond his control, coz it was our ISP that was encountering trouble.

what not to wear

What Not To Wear is currently my fave show on TV.  It’s a reality show that features the makeover of women who are nominated by their family, friends or co-workers for their bad taste in fashion.  The hosts, Clinton and Stacy who are both stylists, help the nominees in finding the right clothes.

I’ve seen various women in different sizes turn fabulous after the makeover.  Even those who are fat can still look good by choosing the right clothes.  Exercise, following a healthy diet, taking diet pills and reading lipofuze review are some ways to trim down your size but, dressing up in appropriate clothes can do wonders!

They give tips on how to make you look slimmer or taller in the clothes that you wear.  By incorporating the right cut, texture, shape and pattern, one can look chic and fashionable. The use of accessories, bags and shoes also helps in giving you that total polished look.

I wish Clinton and Stacy are my friends so they can give me free advice and accompany me shopping. Teehee!

toys for caity

November 19, 2010

As Christmas is fast approaching, toy companies have also beefed up their marketing strategies by advertising in children’s tv shows.  Naturally, my daughter who loves watching her favorite shows on TV, sees these.  She’d tell us, Toys, toys!!” “Caity also, Caity also horse, Caity also princess,” indicating that she also wants to have those toys.  Whew!

I am glad though that her pleas end when the commercials end too.  She’s not the kind to persuade us with cries or tantrums. Most of the children’s toys nowadays are expensive, I’d rather spend the money on something worthwhile for the whole family such as obx vacation rentals, even a trip to a zoo is okay.

But nonetheless, I’ll get her a toy for Christmas that she’ll enjoy.  It doesn’t have to be expensive. I takes little to make her happy anyway.

multi-purpose bed

November 17, 2010

Even before we had kids, I told hubby I want us to have big bed such as a king size platform bed.  I was envisioning our future kids to be cuddling and playing with us on weekends in the bed.

True enough, it happened. Now that we have two small kids, its nice to have them with us in the bed.  The eldest sleeps with us, and while the baby has his own crib, we let him join us when he wakes up in the morning.  He enjoys crawling over us, tapping our faces and grabbing our hair. Our eldest daughter on the hand, enjoys jumping in the bed or hiding under the blanket, making up stories.  It’s like a mini-playground, only it is soft.  When they’re older, it might turn into a “war” zone hehehe, for their (friendly) pillow fights.

choosing the right webhosting company is important

November 15, 2010

Some considerations in internet work When one’s work is in the internet, as most work-at-home moms do have, we have to choose a webhosting company that provides services so we can work with applications more efficiently and effectively. This manages our servers, backup & recovery, security services, doing comprehensive monitoring, among others. There are so many companies that propose varied services but we have to select one which offers dedicated hosting, and be sure that other aspects of our needs are met, for convenience and better concentration in our work.

I have several websites, some are hosted in free blog platforms and the rest in private webhosting companies.  Sometimes I do get problems, but its minimal.  But when they do give me problems, I feel like grrrrrrrrrrrrr… frustrated! hehehe Hey no! I am not gonna eat them!

kids’ eating habits

As I have observed in the eating habits pf my little girl, I conclude: not too bad. In fact she’s doing very well. She eats raw veggies such as carrots and lettuce. In general, young children her age are hard to get into eating veggies.

I remember when we (me and my four siblings) were yet growing up, our mom would “bribe” us with one peso (Philippine money) just so we would eat bitter gourd. It worked of course as now, we enjoy eating it, its kind of bitter taste included. As a mom of two kids, I take it a challenge for me to implement this habit of eating vegetables in them, so that I won’t have any problem dealing with colon problems and scouring colon cleansers found in coloncleanseresearch.com reviews like other parents.

A parents’ harrowing experience

November 14, 2010

When my brother was yet a child, he was very active and sort of irrepressible. I salute my mom for having raised him up – and all five of us – to be the good, responsible and law-abiding citizens that we are now (Ahem!!! You have to take some horn-blowing once in a while).

Back to my bro: This “yaya” of his, just to let him give in to her, especially in times for his afternoon sleep, gave him a coin, which child as he was, put this into his mouth and swallowed it! It was a big danger for his life, as he was rushed to a hospital, and into the operating room, not for operation, but for a very critical medical maneuver, to get the coin from his throat!

let’s get organized!

November 13, 2010

I’ve been wanting to organize our things especially clothes but always don’t have the chance to do so.  It’s not easy to do this with the two kids around coz they will just make a chaos if I take out all the clothes from the closets.

There are many clothes that the kids won’t be needing anymore. Some we have already dropped in the big clothing box which they will go to the less fortunate people.  I myself have also clothes which I have to give up.  One organizing tip I learned is that if you haven’t used a certain clothing for a year or more, surely you don’t have a need for it anymore. It’s time to let it go!  With that in mind, I will definitely have to say bye-bye to plenty of my clothes.

I want to buy clothes organizer with multiple levels to keep our clothes in place especially that the closets at home don’t have shelves.  We have already found exactly the one we needed in Ikea.  I also want an organizer for my belts, bags and hats.  I hate to see these things just lying around for the lack of proper storage.  I have also seen online an organizer for belts which can also double as organizer for ties, or jewelries.

Organizers from Ikea:

Since today is Saturday, hubby is at home to watch the kids while I start sorting out our clothes.  A lame way to spend a weekend but its gloomy outside anyway and this will do us good!

where to buy cheap furniture

Furnishing a condo doesn’t come cheap!  That’s why our unit is almost bare and only has the essentials inside.  It still lacks decors, a carpet or two, paintings, side table…

I wish there’s an online shop where one can buy second hand furniture just like what Prague has.  I am a member of the Czech expatriates’ community and have seen many members sell their stuff for cheap prices, especially when they relocate.

One time, somebody posted an ad selling a modern coffee table for less than five hundred pesos.   Not only do they sell furniture but also other important things for the home like cookware, utensils, children’s stuff, books, electronics and a whole lot more! Beat that!

Maybe if I ask from friends, they might know of a place where we can buy affordable home furniture and furnishings in Manila.  Anyway, for now our condo will be like that - simple and spacious.

should my child go to business school?

November 12, 2010

Parents, are you helping your child in deciding the course to take, and the school, where he will study? I have read of the plight of America’s top business schools: The world financial crisis has lessened the opportunities of their MBA graduates as known big companies on which the schools usually have been depending as MBA employers have been affected. It has then been tougher for job seekers. Just as an example, before in 2007, only about 4% of business school graduates would not find a job. Now, it could climb up to 13% unemployed.

Well, these graduates better have a strategy: work first but to learn and not just to earn; meaning, the emphasis should be on what they can learn so that later on, the can put up a business of their own, using the experience they get from their jobs. The purpose therefore is: to be an employer, and not an employee! Another strategy is: they not only focus on one possible source of income. Investing in a tried-and-tested solid asset is when they buy gold bars, which is a precious, stable commodity. Gold is a unique investment, and it can also be traded easily for they come in convenient size and shape. Consult the United States Gold Bureau for any inquiries regarding the business of gold, as they are experts on it.

a dream vacation

November 6, 2010

With my two youngsters, day in and day out at home, even how enjoyable they are, there comes a time I’d wish for a vacation from it all, and start “daydreaming”. I imagine myself in far-away tourist havens, indulging the pleasures of walking in green pastures, breathing the fresh unpolluted air of the place. Oh oh but as a mother, the two would still be in vacation with me!

There are many choices, as each country has its own beautiful spot, however in Missouri, there is hidden an idyllic place for a family vacation such as Branson. It only takes to buy Branson tickets for us to be there!

keep the floor clean

November 1, 2010

When you have a nine month old boy in the house, being extra careful is necessary.  He is fond of crawling, and along the way, he picks up whatever he sees and immediately puts it in his mouth.  We make sure to keep the floor clean but having another child at home who is only three years old sometimes ruins it.  It can’t be avoided that the latter would spill her food on the floor, sometimes she leaves her crayons and other toys within the baby’s reach.

One time I left the two kids in the living room just to prepare food for the little one.  When I came back, I noticed he was already chewing something in his mouth.  It turned out to be a small piece of clay which his sister was playing.

Here goes the crawler!!!

I have to check the floor all the time!  Geeezzz! Or I’ll better call a baby towing service.. like cars have, or those RV towing when they’re in emergency to rescue the baby from all those tiny bits lying on the floor that I fail to see.
