a parent's journey...

handling criticisms

November 20, 2010

If you’re fat and you receive hoodia diet pills for Christmas, how would you feel?  Would you feel insulted? Or would you feel grateful to the giver for thinking about your own good?  If a close friend criticizes the way you dress, how would you take it?

When watching What Not To Wear, its interesting to see the different reactions of the nominees.  Some feel bad or embarrased about being chosen by their friends, they find it hard to accept that others think they dress badly. But there are others who accept it with enthusiasm, admitting that they don’t know how to choose clothes for themselves and that they are willing to learn from the experts.  Those who felt bad in the first place though, in the end, realized that their friends meant well and they’re thankful for the new change.

We might get hurt with criticisms initially but taking time to ponder about it might do us good.  The next time you get criticize, think about it.  It will help you improve yourself.
