facebook ads

February 19, 2010

Have you noticed those appealing advertisements on the right side bar of Facebook? I would sometimes click on them as they would perk up my curiosity. I admit those ads can be enticing especially when they promote products that can reduce belly fat or reverse infertility. Even my dad who happened to read my sister’s Facebook account (as she showed him some family photos) also clicked on an ad and was taken to the advertiser’s site. My sis was amused as she saw him browsing over those ‘before and after’ photos and testimonies of people that read the advertised diet book.

on monitoring your kid’s computer use

January 20, 2010

While the Internet is a good source of learning for your kids, it’s an investment on your time to also have a system of monitoring and controlling on what websites they’re usually connecting to. Well, my little C may still be too young to do some surfing but she is quiet smart when it comes to computer use and easily learns how to operate techie stuff like opening a CD drive, turning the power switch on, or clicking the mouse.

For kids more than 7 years old, they already know how to play online games so parents should closely observe them. Who knows what scandalous or malware-infested sites they might come across? I’m glad Microsoft’s newly-released Windows 7 operating system has parental controls for children. Aside from monitoring the websites their kids usually visit, the Windows 7 parental control features can also be enabled to put time limit on computer use.

Yup, it’s best to guide and educate our kids about Internet use. They won’t be browsing about relationship advices, shopping deals or joint pain relief for now and their interests are worlds apart from us, but it also pays to know and appreciate the things they want to browse online, be it playing with a virtual bear or having fun with dress up games.

what you need to create your own website

February 20, 2008

Do you want to build your own website? Do it!  Join us as we search for many wonderful opportunities online. You can start off by availing of the domain specials currently on sale at Godaddy.  For as low as $2.99 a year, you can already have your own site with the .INFO sale, or only $6.99 a year for .ORG domain.  Cheap? Yes!  You can choose from their domain names that includes .org, .biz, .com, .info, .mobi, and .net.

You better hurry or someone else might beat you to that domain name you want.  Imagine thousands of people thinking everyday what their domain names will be.  There’s a big chance that the domain name you want has already been registered by someone else.  That would be a total disaster!; so to avoid that from happening, head on to Godaddy and buy your own domain.

As you can see, it’s not at all expensive to purchase a domain.  You can even have it for much lesser price if you avail of deals using GoDaddy Coupon Codes.  And to go with your domain purchase, you should also get a Godaddy hosting or else where will you park your files and documents? So do check out the Godaddy offers on hosting plans as well.  Don’t forget, Godaddy gives out plenty of coupon codes in their website which you can use on your domain purchase, hosting plans, domain transfers, or domain renewal.  It’s all yours to grab and use in your domain and hosting purchase.

virtual gallery of Uffizi

January 26, 2008

You’ve probably heard of the famous Uffizi Gallery in Florence that houses art collections of masterpieces with exceptional value.  The real Gallery was built in 1560 but it was only on 1574 that the art collection began.  Since not everyone is capable of flying to Florence to be able to see the magnificent art works inside Uffizi, the next best thing that art enthusiasts can do is visit the Virtual Uffizi.  In the age of internet, people can view the paintings exhibited in the real gallery.  The website contains 505 exact files on exhibit in the real gallery. And there are about 400 more images of these 505 files.

The website is very easy to navigate.  To the left, there are various links leading to different pages such as the Gallery information, giving information for those who wants to visit the real gallery; the Rooms index which viewers will click inorder to tour the virtual gallery; artists index which displays the artists and their biographies; the reservation service for buying tickets; gallery history, maps and so on.

The virtual Uffizi also provides services such as buying tickets online, links to accommodations, language courses, shops in Florence and a lot more.  That makes the virtual Uffizi both a complete catalogue and the ultimate guide for the real Uffizi gallery.

Yey!  And one more reason why I love the net; I just sent an email to my friend who asked what she can bring to the party, I requested pasta arrabiata from her. There are still plenty of reasons why i love the NET, but that will do for now. :)

hosting for websites

December 1, 2007

There is an increase of small business owners and bloggers and who are setting up their own website.  Having your own site gives you more freedom to do whatever you want with it.  Even if there are many companies that offer their free sites, nothing beats having your own.  I should know, that’s why I have my own blog domains already which I’m really satisfied.

One consideration that customers look for in setting up their site or online store is a hosting plan that is affordable yet provides the features that allow them to customize their sites the way they want it.
The good thing is there are many ecommerce hosting companies that compete to deliver the best price and services which customers can choose from.  It doesn’t necessarily mean that cheap business hosting plans are the best.  Customers have to compare the services and features that come along with it. live support is essential to websites

November 19, 2007

Visiting websites is like visiting an actual office or store.  From the website you can learn many information about the company, the services or products they offer, and other valuable details which a client needs to know.  The only difference between a website and a real office or store is that there isn’t anybody whom you can interact with the website.  Thus live customer support is important to any site especially if you’re offering services.  In this way, customers wouldn’t feel like stepping into a store without a saleslady.

This essential feature in a website has recently been added to BackgammonMasters.  BackgammonMasters is a leader in online backgammon and (the new) blackjack games and software.  Due to their huge success in raking in traffic to their all-in-one game lobby, they launched the live customer support in response to the needs of their ever-growing clients from all over the world.   Players who are logged into the platform can easily contact the customer support who’ll be ready to assist them in whatever problems or issues it concerns.  This time tough the live support is only available in English but once this feature has been fully tested they plan to add live support for other languages as well.

With the live support feature, whether with online games playing blackjack or on other websites doing online shopping, players, guests and customers would surely find this tool convenient as they browse the internet.

adwords, adsense

November 6, 2007

As I was writing my previous post the ultimate guide to google adwords, i realized how clean my site is.  Compared to other blogs which are full of ads especially google adsense, mine looks completely bare.  I actually did it on purpose because many of those bloggers who had adsense complained that they're earning very little from it. So why bother? But then with this adwords' tips from Steve Baker, there is hope in increasing that profit earned from adwords.

Since I don't have the patience in reading and interpreting instructions, I'll encourage my techie bro to learn from the guide and let him tutor me. Heh!

what link farm means

I get to encounter techie words when browsing and reading articles on SEO and stuff like that which I don’t understand.  Like today I came across the term link farm.  The blogger was saying that using link farms are illegal that’s why some blogs’ PR went down on the recent Google update.  That got me wondering what link farm means.

An Austin SEO company named Apogee has created the search engine marketing  glossary which lists down terms or jargons commonly used in search engine marketing industry.  This is where I learned what link farm is.  So the next time you encounter techie words, just head over to Apogee search engine marketing glossary.
