Headphones galore

June 11, 2011

For music lovers who would not like to miss their music even while doing work, or going places, the headphone/earphone on-going revolution is much welcome. Not only are they improved in quality, even their size, color, designs and other features are being studied for a better lure to the user.

Oh technology, even headphones are raised up to a new level. In the newly developed, high-tech designs, features are added so that they offer now astonishing performance and sound quality. Better sound isolation is also an added feature. In one design, an In-line control capsule is added in ear headphones. There are also earbuds that black out outside background noise so that one can completely focus on his own music. The designers also see to it that the earphone fits comfortably in your ear while you listen.

When fever strikes

May 29, 2011

The past two days have been extra tiring at home.  My son developed a fever which was a result of his vaccination a week ago.  He’s having difficulty sleeping, plus he had a stuffy nose.  He usually sleeps straight about 10-12 hours at night, but these two days, he would wake up crying.  He would only drink little.  I think he wakes up not from hunger but from discomfort.  I did research on articles about children’s fever, I did click here and there, but there’s really nothing much we can do but comfort him, be patient and wait for his fever to disappear.  The problem is, I am getting irritable with lack of rest. Waaaaaaa! Please Lord, give me more patience.

Stay-at-home mother

May 26, 2011

Staying at home with my two kids can be tiring most of the time, but I wouldn’t want to trade this super job with anything else.  I am blessed to have a hubby who can provide our needs without me having to work.  We’re not that rich, it’s just that we live modestly and spend within our limits but I can say that we live a comfortable life.

I ache for those mom who have to leave their children in the care of other people in order to work.   They have to look for management jobs, clerical jobs or any jobs just to be able to augment their income.  I think it’s important for parents especially mothers to be with their children during their formative years, so they can instill good values to them. So yeah, even if I have a difficult job raising my kids, it’s worth it!

Taking road trips

May 22, 2011

Traveling by car is a nice way to see the sights especially here in Europe.  One can go from one city to another on a road trip, thus visiting many tourists attraction.  Plus it can save you airplane fare which is sometimes costly especially if you’re traveling with a family.

Before taking long trips though, one has to be sure that the vehicle to be used is in a good condition.  A friend of mine who recently stopped over at Prague traveling from Switzerland, to Germany to Poland then to our place spent about 1000 euros for care repair.  They spent a lot of money but they were able to see 4 countries!  I think its also best for those who are fond of road trip to get a road assistance plan so that they can easily get help whenever they encounter problems along their trip.

Medical care, a great help

One time when my Mom was in the hospital (which happened only once as far as I remember), it was found out that her body is salt sensitive, a condition which reacts sensitively whether her system has more, or has less, salt. At that time, i was found out that her body lacked salt, which sickness is called hyponatremia.

Medicare plan played an important role during that time she was hospitalized. Though she had hospital bills, they gave her discounted price due to the plan. Another help is the senior citizen card which gives usually 20% discount, as mandated by law. It’s a consolation to the senior citizens indeed.

Not enough sleep

May 18, 2011

I had a busy weekend, spent with friends and our families out of Prague for a night.  We had a great time but I didn’t have enough sleep and was tired from all the walking we did.  Adie wasn’t used to NOT sleeping in his crib and sharing the room with many people.  He had a hard time sleeping which also bothered us. Thus the lack of sleep. huhuhu Fortunately I wasn’t attacked with pimples.  Had I been, I would probably not worry how to remove pimples but I’d rather worry how to get back the lost hours of sleep.

All I can wish is for the kids to have synchronized nap time in the afternoon so I can sleep with them, but no lack since Monday yet.  Argh!

The importance of family togetherness

May 11, 2011

We as parents should give time to our growing youngsters, as it is natural for children to crave for the attention and love of their father and mother, and of the family as a whole. That’s why it is important that there should be bonding among the siblings with their parents. A simple outing, or a weekend gathering, would do, so the children would not seek from outside of the family these affection and care, which usually if unguided would turn out to be drug sessions with their peers.

For those who have already the problem in the family, a drug rehabilitation center for minors is the best solution for the affected child. More love, care and understanding should be shown by the rest of the family. This matters more than all the rehabilitation from the outside world – outside of the family, I mean.

Resort By The Sea

April 29, 2011

Back home, we live in a subdivision named Miramar Park. As the word “Miramar” suggests , “mirar” is “to look” while “mar” means “sea” (okay mom translated that for me), therefore you guess, we live next to the sea. And we have a neighbor which was named “Spa By The Sea”, catering to its customers who liked their bodies to be soothed and massaged. (I don’t know which spa cover they used anyway.)

Lately, they have a change of business name, from “Spa By The Sea” to “Resort By The Sea”, a garden hotel and restaurant, they claim. Well, they have a swimming pool, and their surroundings are landscaped. As a neighbor and friend of the owner, my mom, and the family, can get inside the place to look around without paying the fee. When we use the facilities, or take a meal of course, we are given a discount; how’s that for a friendly neighborhood, huh?

Be natural in food intake

Talking of stress, when we push our bodies to do too much work, naturally it will be stressed. Many people resort to taking supplements,   hgh supplements could be one of them, to help put in performance enhancing nutrients or drugs into their system. I doubt if I would go for that. I choose to be natural, even in deciding for what would be taken to make my body healthy. Fruits and vegetables, a good rest or sleep, and plenty of water taken at intervals would do well. These are all better than artificial and synthetic medicine or supplements. It’s best to study the contents or ingredients of anything we take, to be safe.

Learning a new language

This is really an exciting phase of my life: being busy learning a new language. After so many years here in Praha, and resisting the call to study the language of the country where I am presently living with my family, now must be the time. Between time spent with our two dynamic, curious and energetic youngsters, and my lessons, I have little time to read creatine supplement reviews and such.

I have to balance, and manage, my time the best I can, so as still to be an effective mother and wife. Not to mention my online work! Oh, but no complaints really, as I’m eager to learn, at the same time, enjoy what I’m doing. We should have a big “why” to get pleasure from any project we do, or else it would too much of a burden which will just stress us.

I got a new mobile phone!

April 19, 2011

Yey!  After more than four years, I finally own a new mobile phone!  Well, I would have still been using my old phone had I not felt the need for a recorder to record the discussions in my language class  Hubby bought me a Nokia phone which can do what I specified him to look for - that it can record.  Unfortunately, I realized only later that I needed more, like use internet on my phone.  The Nokia phone can access the internet, but doesn’t have WIFI.  Sad, sigh….  So after a month, I got myself another phone, a HTC Wildfire. Weeee!  Now I am satisfied with it!

I guess it will take sometime for me to buy another techie gadget again.  But as my birthday is fast approaching, it’s nice to hope for a new custom laptop. teehee!  Oh well, it’s just a wish but I’d also love to get a new bag, or a pair of oxfords for my birthday.  Let’s see what I will get. (:

many repairs needed

April 4, 2011

Back home in the Philippines, I was told that our house needs to be repaired.  There’s the rusty gate, the leaking pipe, the leaking roof and who knows what else.  There’s always something coming up after one problem is fixed.  My dad is fond of tinkering and fixing whatever is out of order.  He also likes carpentry and sometimes does the job himself, if he can only do it.  That’s why he has a stash of handy equipment at home such as cutting tools, drill, etc.  But when its too much of a work for him (my dad is already 70+ years old!), he passes the work to my uncle, who is also knowledgeable in home repairs and steel works.

I hope there aren’t anymore problems regarding to our house aside from the ones I mentioned coz the price of labor and materials don’t get cheap!

branding a product

April 1, 2011

What’s in a name?  If you’re selling a product, a brand name is very important.  It’s what people remember, and associate with.  Think of some of the world’s famous brands and see how you respond to it.  Usually a simple yet unique brand does good for name recall.  Long and complicated names are hard to remember.

An example of brand that’s easy to recall is romeo y julieta, a cigar brand known for its quality, and its fine flavor and aroma.  Almost all of us are familiar with the tragic love story of Romeo and Juliet, so branding a product their names is a good move.

all by myself

March 30, 2011

When hubby told me last Monday that her mom wanted to see the kids today, I thought “Hey, that would be great! I can do my online work!” I have about 9 assignments due today, and a day without the kids means that I can concentrate on the work at hand, quitely.

But guess what?  I looked at the bottom right corner of my PC and panicked!  It’s almost 2PM and I’ve only made two tasks so far!  Weeee!  I can really get carried away once I start reading articles in the net, or visiting blogs.   From initially browsing on english horse tack, I found myself reading a fashion blog minutes later. Boohoooo!  If I want my online work done, I’d better prioritize it coz in a few hours, the kids will be back and that would mean the end of my ME time!

here comes work!

March 23, 2011

For a week or more, there hasn’t been work given to me.  I felt like I’ve been ignored.  You see, no work means no money. huhuhu I spent the slacking days clearing up the balcony and turning it into an extended play area for the kids. I was also posting some clothes that the little boy doesn’t use anymore for selling.  And also browsing on fashion blogs, and shopping sites for refurbished netbooks. Anyway, even if I wasn’t inspired, I finished the two pending tasks yesterday and this morning I was greeted with loads of work! Yeyyyy!  I thought they’ve forgotten about me.

It’s mid week and I am just preparing myself for hectic days to come starting tomorrow.  I’ll be off to my language lesson in the morning. Friday I might have the time to work on my tasks so my weekends will be free for going out, either with the family or friends.

who’s out?

We’ve been going out with the kids more often for a walk since spring has hit our place. If we do this on a regular basis, who knows I might just see a nice numbers on the scales. (:

Yesterday, after breakfast I took them out hoping the little one will sleep in the stroller.  He was dozing off during the walk, but as soon as we reached the playground, he immediately became alert again.  We were out for a long time.  Caity even complained that she was tired, so we had to stop by a bench for a short rest. On our way home though, we passed by another playground (the one near our house), and Caity asked to play some more.

It’s nice to be outside, but I can’t take out the kids everyday coz that would mean time off from house chores which needs to be attended to. It also disrupts their schedule just like what happened yesterday.  It was the little one’s sleeping time when we took a walk, I thought he would fall asleep when we’re outside but he didn’t.  So his morning nap was delayed for two hours.  And once we got home, I had to rush making them food coz they were hungry.

But I’ll try to do it often, for the kids’ sake.  They sure like being out.

talk to the lawyers first

March 11, 2011

Many drivers are reckless, the fact that even if they know they are driving, still they stop for a drink, and it becomes a drink too many.  These cause a lot of vehicle and auto accidents.

Pity the ones affected, especially if they are not familiar with some facts about how to handle the situation, as worse consequences could result from such.  However, if they get the services of experts on such subjects as car accident legal processes, they can maximize the benefits they can get out of it. car accident attorney Austin services can be handled expertly by  O’Hanlon, McCollom & Demerath – Personal Injury Lawyers – 808 West Avenue, Austin, TX. 78701 – 512-494-9949. They can aggressively pursue the case backed up by an extensive knowledge of  insurance companies and their practices. You know, these insurance companies put their financial interests first, and would try to get you to accept their cheap and unlawful settlements. So beware, talk to the lawyers first!

need eyeglasses?

March 10, 2011

There are a lot of reading glasses sold online that are less expensive and also very trendy. They have wide choices of designs, brands and kinds. I remember the last time I purchased my eyeglasses, it cost me more than those sold in the internet. And there weren’t much choices in the optical shop.  With the online store, you can even get free shipping if you’re in the US. Lucky for those living in the US, but not for me. heh!

So the next time you want to buy a new pair of eyeglasses, scour the internet first to save big bucks.  (:

how to protect your sofa from dirt

March 8, 2011

Anyone with kids or has lived with kids would know how messy these little creatures can be, especially the very young ones.  I have a 13 month old boy and a 3 year old girl and oh, there are dirty streaks on our sofa time to time.  The latter though is already aware not to make any mess and has been trained to clean up her toys after she plays. But being dirty or food/juice spills can’t be avoided sometimes, and in our case its the carpet or the sofa that are the most difficult to clean.

While browsing earlier, I saw some futon covers and slipcovers. That’s it!  Having slipcovers for the sofa is the best solution when you have tiny tots in the house.  The covers can be easily removed and washed, sparing your sofa from dirt.  Brilliant idea, isn’t it?

looking young

February 25, 2011

When I see old stars in the screen, I wonder what they do to make themselves look young.  Some are already in their 60’s but don’t show lots of wrinkles and they look young for their age. There are also celebrities already in their 40’s but still look very young and sexy.  With today’s advancement in medicine and technology, it makes me think they undergo some surgery or probably take hgh pills to achieve such look. They can very well afford it anyway with all the money they’re making, besides aside from their talents, how they look matters a lot for them to get contracts with producers.
